Class 5 certainly all deserve today - our Mersea Adventure following in the footsteps of Alex Rider. He worked his way through a disused Cornwall tin mine to solve a crime therefore we are caving and experiencing his SAS training in the Brecon Beacons by orienteering and tackling the assault course.
Academically, we will be concentrating on preparing you all for Year 7 from now on, along with thoroughly exploring our theme of Stormbreaker across the curriculum. We have our school show to prepare too, as well as the usual Summer Term challenges in Sport and Crucial Crewe.
Homework 18/05/15
Due in on Friday as homework will be given
out on Mondays.
English
Please complete and bring in to school your
favourite memories of the last 7 years for you leavers book.
I
do want a book review on the blog though, Bug Club read or one of your books
please. We will check and read them together.
Maths
No maths this week as you
have all worked so hard. We will be collating results from our Adventure day
and representing them mathematically this week in class as well as Stormbreaker
math challenges.
However, please ensure that
you have no outstanding Abacus maths homework online. We want to start the last
half term afresh. Use the ICT suite before school (with permission) and
lunchtimes if you are unable to clear any backlog at home.
Please ensure
that a parent has seen and signed the homework sheet. Share with them your
homework and read to someone every day please, asking them to sign above. 3x a
week minimum makes such a difference to your knowledge, vocabulary and
comprehension skills.
Determined to calculate the maths revision quiz questions first!
Providing stiff competition in the maths revision quiz.
Ready for a well - deserved water fight. Mrs Bowles and Mrs Martin gave as good as they got! Huge fun.
I have recently read the 2nd series of Warrior Cats The New Prophesy. The book was great! It is about 2 cats from each clan; Thunderclan, Windclan, Rivercaln and Shadowclan, going on a journey to find a new home for there clan. The reason for this is that the forest is being destroyed by mosters and Twolegs.(people in cars) I would recommed it to everyone and rate it 5 out of 5 stars.

You have read so many books! Well done! I'll have to read one of the warrior cat books myself.
DeleteHave you read the book Ellie has described? Always good to read a wide variety of books.
yes, I am getting the books Wonder and Geek Girl and I am going to read them next. I do think i am getting a bit obsessed with Warrior Cats now! Even writing things like two-legs and Moons in my work! You should diffidently read one of the Warriors! Book one is called Into The Wild. I will get back to Warriors and read all 60 one day!

I have just read the book Wonder by R.J Palacio and it is officially the best book I have ever read. Its all about a boy who was unfortunately born with a deformed face and the story is all about how he copes with bullies and different experiences. The chapters are quite small but the whole book is written in different characters point of view.
ReplyDeleteI strongly recommend that we should read this book in class and that others readers should try it. I rate this book 10 out of 10.
Ellie
Great review Ellie. We had quite a discussion about this book, would be great to read. Is it suitable for all ks2 age ranges or just class 5? X
DeleteI have just read Way Of The Wolf by Bear Grylls. This book was amazing as there was masses of adventure in it. Beck (the main character) has to survive in the snow as his plane has crashed! Will he make it? No spoilers!
ReplyDeleteBrandon
Several boys from class 4 were asking about books to read, is it suitable for younger readers?
DeleteCan't believe how you've hooked me in! Another book I'm going to have to read. Well done Brandon.
I am reading The Maze Runner I would rate it 10/10 I love it don't give this to eny one under 11. The main character is Thomas him and a load of other boys try to escape the maze some survive some don't...

I've read this book too and loved it. On the same theme as Hunger Games, survival of the fittest. More books in the series - will you read them? Have you watched the film?
