Welcome to an extremely different and exciting week! Consortium Sports today (Good luck everyone competing); last rehearsals this week for Jack and the Beanstalk and visits to your new schools. That doesn't include the musical evening on Wednesday for those performing!

Enjoy the photos below of the last few weeks - Sports Day, Science Day, and more. There is no homework this week as you are all concentrating so hard on the show and will be out for the last two days too. Work hard at your new schools and remember that you are representing Fordham All Saints whilst you are there too.

Welcome to another exciting week this summer term in Class 5! We have Sports Day and Magna Carta celebrations as well as rehearsals.

I was really proud of your maths challenge cups work last week, photos below. You had to TTT (Think Things Through) and it involved outside true-scale recreation of the Mersea tunnels as well as protractor and measuring work. Well done!

   Homework 15/06/15

   Due in on Friday

English

Well done on your wonderful research pieces, beautifully presented.
We are studying The Magna Carta today and I would like you to put a fact pack together of what it is, what it looks like, why is it special and why are we learning about it this week? This can be in your homework book but you can also produce it in any form you prefer. Please use your own knowledge, not just a cut and paste from the internet.

Maths

Thinking Things Through! I will be providing you with a speaking and listening challenge to complete at home.
Stage 7 group – you will have a TTT challenge, please explain your methods and reasoning.

Welcome to another busy week this summer term. Class 5 will be photographed for their leaving shots to be published in the press this week, time is flying by!
Crucial Crewe and our visit to Colchester Zoo last week made it an exciting time, with much to absorb and learn. A huge well done to all our netballers (Teams A, B and C) for working so hard and playing so well! Winning against Feering 7-0 will be remembered for a long time!

Homework 08/06/15

Due in on Friday 12th June – you have next week to complete this.

English

After looking at the massive Portuguese Man o’ War jellyfish in The Stormbreaker film in captivity and in a small tank, I would like you to research how Colchester Zoo is a major part of worldwide conservation, fighting extinction. How are their enclosures appropriate and what can you find out about their conservation programme? A fact booklet or poster would be superb. You have next week to complete this too.

Maths

Next Door Numbers
Follow the instructions in your homework book, which involves making ten squares of paper and writing 0-9 on them. Arrange them in the order shown in the instructions and find how many ways you can arrange the numbers so that no two consecutive numbers are next to each other. Thinking Things Through!

Stage 7 group – please explain your methods and reasoning.

Scenario challenge - who was responsible, the cyclist or the car driver?

Which chemicals are in a cigarette?

Welcome back to your last half term of Year 6 and Fordham School! We have an unusual week of activities and warmer days are on the way which will be great for our Summer Fair on Saturday too.

We have started the show songs and some of us experienced advanced squash lessons on Monday. We have all been working hard for the Netball High 5 tournament this afternoon, Class 5 have excelled themselves with enthusiasm and dedication to this. Good luck everyone!
Our annual visit to Crucial Crewe this morning will be interactive, informative and important for Class 5 to stay safe in every way during the coming years.
We compared the film of Stormbreaker with the book yesterday, quite a difference and it was really interesting to analyse how Anthony Horowitz had adapted his spy genre story for film.
To end our exciting week we are studying science at Colchester Zoo with Mrs Dixon and their part in worldwide conservation will be part of our focus too.
