Welcome back to the second half the Spring Term, an
extremely short half term! I hope you all enjoyed your week and a day, feeling
rested and full of beans.
We have an exciting half term ahead, as we are going to
pitch to the Manager and Assistant Manager of Fred Olsen’s Travel Agents in
Colchester in order to try and win the prize. The challenge is to develop the
‘most perfect New Zealand experience.’ The winning team’s work this term is
being prominently displayed in Fred Olsen’s window in Sir Isaac’s walk. Each
team will face stiff competition from the rest of their class as well as
Classes 3 and 4. Good luck everybody!
Class 5 is also going to try and learn enough guitar chords
to accompany the school during the Easter Service – another enjoyable challenge!
We do have a heavy half term preparing for our Sats which
are only a few weeks after Easter. You have all worked extremely hard and I
know that you will continue to produce your best work.
P.E will be Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons from
this week and homework is still given out Mondays and due in on Fridays. This
blog contains the weekly homework and is updated on Mondays.

The last week before Half term Class 5 – nearly there! You
have worked extremely hard and deserve a rest but we have a busy week before us
first.
Your teams have started to plan and design your invention
that will ensure an enhanced New Zealand Experience this week. You now only
have 3 weeks to complete your prototype and create a delicious New Zealand dish
for the judges too.
We have a grammar week in Literacy, you have remembered many
rules so far, a few more to go and you will be experts. We will be continuing
our guitar tuition, High 5 netball skills, becoming adept at calculating the
probability of challenges in maths (Thinking Things Through) and organising our
groups to create a professional pitch to travel agents for our theme
competition.
Well done in scoring
as many goals as you could to raise money for NSPCC goal challenge during your
outdoor P.E. session last week - very impressive.

| We do work hard in our gym lessons! |
Well, it is our 5th week of the Spring Term and
we have a considerable amount of work to get through! We are continuing with
our team efforts this week towards our New Zealand competition, creating a
‘perfect New Zealand experience.’ I was extremely pleased with how you all read
the census data for Fordham independently and you need to create your data
graph this week before comparing Fordham with Horotiu using their census data
too.
Your teams need to plan and design an invention that will
ensure an enhanced New Zealand Experience this week. You only have 4 weeks to
complete your prototype and create a delicious New Zealand dish for the judges
too.
Well done on your
digestive system models created last week – extremely realistic. Maths will be
the properties and nets of 3D shape this week. You are completing your Maori
play scripts to a high standard too, as well as performing them. It was
fascinating creating a data bank of Fordham traffic with a speed camera last
week. You were all highly professional.
I’m looking forward to the NSPCC goal challenge during your
outdoor P.E. session this week. Good luck!
The Class 5 blog is updated on Mondays and homework is
always on the blog, going out on Mondays, due back on Fridays. If you ever have
trouble with internet access at home for your homework or Bug Club, use the ICT
