Homework  15/12/14

English

Homework this week and over the holiday is to write a review in your opinion of how the All Saints whole school museum was received. Can you explain why the work was completed linked to the theme?

I am still expecting a book review each week on the blog when you have finished a Bug Club book. L6 books may take a fortnight to complete.
Maths
Your homework over the holidays is to explain and learn the equivalence chart for percentages, fractions and decimals to an adult at home and learn it off by heart. This knowledge and understanding will have a significant impact on your mental maths ability, speed and calculations in maths next term.

I would like to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Pudsey in coins - well done Fordham!

Marilyn brought in fascinating and rare documents.

We all learnt so much - thank you Marilyn.

One of Class 5's Inspiration mindmaps being developed.

Welcome to the weekly blog for Week 4 of this half term. Class 5 had an eventful week as it was Friendship week with a wide variety of activities and fun outside the classroom. They learnt how to dance under their partners arm and twist in the ballroom jive; had a stimulating and surprising science lesson learning about magnetic force and the week culminated in their presentations to an audience.
I would like to say congratulations to Class 5 for the effort and preparation most pupils put into making their presentations as interesting, varied and as professional as they could.  Their photos are here on the blog and each member of Class 5 is going to write about what went well and how they can improve for their future presentations.
This week is Powerdown Week and I’m sure that the results of monitoring our use of energy within the school will be an eye opener, especially our no power day on Friday! How much will we save this week?

Class 5 would like to say a huge thank you to Marilyn Beard from Oaks and Acorns who spent the afternoon sharing her family WWI and WWII family history. The fascinating and rare documents and photographs helped to bring it all alive and the learning experience was invaluable.
Doris Beard visited us to share her WWII memories a few weeks ago and we would also like to express our thanks from all of Class 5 for that experience too.

Does particle size affect solubility?

Explain to anyone at home why the surface area of the particles affects solubility.

Welcome to our third week already this half term! It has been a busy time!
I was extremely proud of you all at Fordham War Memorial on Tuesday and it was lovely to watch you all play a part in helping David to plant the flowering cherry on Jubilee Green afterwards. The plaque read ‘We Will Remember Them’ and I am sure you all will - you have learnt and understood so much.
The Copford Music Festival was thoroughly enjoyed by all and you sounded fantastic.
This week we continue with our study of WWI and have a visitor tomorrow afternoon, Marilyn form Oaks and Acorns who will be telling us about her WWI and WWII local family experiences. It is Friendship Week, during which we will be focusing on how to look after and protect ourselves and our friends. A few pupils in our class will be rising to the challenge of the national maths competition 'The Primary Maths Challenge' this week. Keep a cool head, think things through  and we know you will do well!
