How does the speed camera work?

What is it? Their speed? Any distractions?

Keeping a tally of the types of vehicles.

We do work hard in our gym lessons!
Well, it is our 5th week of the Spring Term and we have a considerable amount of work to get through! We are continuing with our team efforts this week towards our New Zealand competition, creating a ‘perfect New Zealand experience.’ I was extremely pleased with how you all read the census data for Fordham independently and you need to create your data graph this week before comparing Fordham with Horotiu using their census data too.
Your teams need to plan and design an invention that will ensure an enhanced New Zealand Experience this week. You only have 4 weeks to complete your prototype and create a delicious New Zealand dish for the judges too.
Well done on your digestive system models created last week – extremely realistic. Maths will be the properties and nets of 3D shape this week. You are completing your Maori play scripts to a high standard too, as well as performing them. It was fascinating creating a data bank of Fordham traffic with a speed camera last week. You were all highly professional.
I’m looking forward to the NSPCC goal challenge during your outdoor P.E. session this week. Good luck!

The Class 5 blog is updated on Mondays and homework is always on the blog, going out on Mondays, due back on Fridays. If you ever have trouble with internet access at home for your homework or Bug Club, use the ICT suite at school, just let me know that you require it.
   Homework  02/02/15

Due in on Friday as homework will be given out on Mondays.
English
Your English homework is to read and listen to the Horotiu blog about the water pollution project that they carried out. You will find it under the television part, the Headteacher was very proud. You will need to know about this for the competition.
You also have pages 86 and 87 of ei and ie words to complete.
I am still expecting a book review each week on the blog when you have finished a Bug Club book or an actual book. If it is a Bug Club book, please say so.  L6 books may take a fortnight to complete.

Maths
You have been allocated online percentages to calculate under time pressure. I have also given you Test C of Test 2 mental Thinking Things Through challenges. These are not too taxing and you will grow accustomed to these types of questions.  Keep practicing your weakest tables to increase your total in the weekly times table challenge. Ask to be tested at home. Well done to those who increased their score last week.
Class 5 analysing Fordham village data to compare with an equivalent village in New Zealand.

  1. I have just read the book Cinderella; The true story, the book was great! It is my favourite book so far, I like the way its is the same as the real story apart from the ugly sisters are kind, helpful and loving even though they are ugly and Cinderella is a horrible person who only thinks about her self, even though she is pretty. I would rate it 4/5.

    2. Well done for trying everyone! It's in the video clip about the teacher being on their local news programme. The Maori newsreader speaks first as I told you in class.

  5. I have just finished a book called 'What Are You Doing?' and I really enjoyed it! It is about a boy called Cosmo who has a rather strange sister, her name is Dido. His mum is also rather strange and she helps nits with mayonnaise! His mother wants to enter the talent show at Cosmo's school, Cosmo does not want her to do the show because he thinks she will embarrass him and herself! He is ater to discover that his mother has an amazing singing voice and he is now extremely proud of her! Thank you for allocating me this book.

  6. Flight From Ledron

Recently I have read, and enjoyed, a bug club book called Flight From Ledron. I liked this book emmensly and read it within two days! It an amazing story of hope, trust and frindship, which I highly reccommend to any one. Although one thing I would say is that the end is a bit of an anti-climax after the action packed middle f the plot.
I rate this book four out of five stars.

  8. I have read the book "technology" and the book is about technology that has been invented and used in the past years. But I find the book quite boring really, all though I would not mind moving into a an echo house. They are cool houses that are under ground slightly on one side and create energy with solar panels and mini wind tur binds in the garden. I would rate the book 5/10. I would recommend it to any science lovers out there!

  9. I have just read the bug club book The Eleventh Hour the book was all about Doctor Who meeting a girl named Amelia who has a crack on her wall in the shape of a smile which she is scared of. She calls doctor to check it out and he finds out that a prisoner alien snake which can turn into any thing and eats people! The book was very scary in some parts (mostly the pictures!) I would rate the book 4/5 star as the author could of used some better vocabuary. I would recommend it to year three and up as may be too scary for year twos.
