Welcome to our first blog of the second half of this term! Isn’t time flying by! I hope that you all had a lovely week and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.  We have an exciting half term  ahead– an inter school’s squash tournament for some of us, our class is leading the service at Fordham War Memorial on Armistice Day and we will be attending a tree planting ceremony afterwards to commemorate the WWI centenary.

We will be finishing Stig of the Dump and starting War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. We are studying Roman clothing and Roman numerals before moving on to World War One. In our p.e. lessons we will be learning the 1930’s jive ready for when we learn about WWII in a few weeks time as well as tag rugby skills. We will be experimenting with separating mixtures and exploring the properties of materials in science and exploring different mediums in art that will link with our cross curricular theme of confict through the ages. I hope that our guitar skills will be sufficient to perform at Christmas and we have the Key Stage 2 music festival to work towards too. Exciting as well as thought provoking times!

Homework  03/11/14
Due in on Friday as homework will be given out on Mondays, due in on Fridays.

English
Research exactly what Boudicca’s role was in burning down Roman Colchester. You will need to find interesting information for a speaking presentation to the class in two weeks time (17th) and have your information neatly presented in whatever format you wish, (printed or handwritten) ready to exhibit in our museum. You will need to time your presentation so that it lasts no more than three minutes and can be less. You can make or find artefacts or pictures to show us too if you wish.

Maths
You have been allocated online Activelearn maths homework. It is revising common factors, common multiples and prime numbers. We studied these a couple of weeks ago – you should be experts.
Please work on the 11x table this week. Keep practicing your 3x, 4x, 6x, 7x, 8x and 9x  tables and build up your knowledge. Remember to use your times tables tool box.
