Welcome back Class 5!
What a fantastic first week back we have had. We had great fun on our first day, having a chance to catch up with all our Summer holiday news by writing our very own trip advisor review of somewhere we explored on our holiday.
We also had a chance to learn some maths games and teach them to each other - these will be useful to know if we have any indoor playtimes during Autumn term!
Also, because Mrs Crawley loves her maths, we had a chance to learn about Mobius strips and their amazing properties. Who knew we could have so much fun with strips of paper!?
We got started straight away with some of our place value work in maths this week - and worked particularly hard to make sure that we all understood how place value grids can help us multiply and divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. Those of us who had mastered this skill had a chance to solve a cipher problem, inspired by our class book - Artemis Fowl.
We have also started practising how to write full character descriptions. On Friday we did some paired writing based on cartoons Mrs Crawley had given us, and had a chance to edit and improve each others' work.
Lots of new skills learnt this week - including remembering to call our teacher 'Mrs Crawley' (something pupils, staff and Mrs Crawley herself have been struggling to do this week!)
