Half Way Through...

All the English papers are done!
Year 6 are doing incredibly well this week - keep it up for the maths too please!

Anyway thought I'd post this midweek update to show some of the more fun things we have managed to do as well as our exams!

Miss Vidler set us some 'Murder Mystery Maths', where we have to solve different mathematical puzzles to work out the criminal from a list of suspects. Miss Vidler loves doing puzzles to help her unwind, but as you can see here some of us used some serious concentration too!

On Monday afternoon we took advantage of the sunny weather to do some watercolour artwork. Some of us went outside and used the school grounds for inspiration - look how chilled out we are on SATs week!
This afternoon we had lots of fun, as Miss Vidler set us 'The Great Gingerbread House Competition'. We didn't use gingerbread, but were given wafers instead, and using icing sugar as cement and sweets for decoration had to use our problem solving and creative thinking skills to design the fanciest edible house that any Hansel or Gretal would be proud to be locked up in!

So here are some photos of us with smiles on our faces, not bad for a week of tests!
(Also a good chance to look at the houses that were made, I doubt there was anything left of them by the time the children got them home!)

Thank you for some of the lovely comments we have received from parents recently about the fun things we are doing in class, your children really do make it worthwhile although it's always lovely to hear positive feedback too!

Still some more fun times ahead, with year 5 going on a trip and year 6 having their reward day this week!

  7. This week has been AMAZING!
I loved making (and eating of course) the waferbread houses and selling them!
I really enjoyed rounders and murder mystery maths and all the other awesome activities that you gave us. As for the actual tests, they weren`t so bad and I`ve had a relaxing week! Your breakfast club even prompted me to actually get up in the morning. That is something not many people can do! Thank you to everybody who helped this week! Thank you!
