Welcome to the last Class 5 blog of the term! A third of your Year 6 year has already been completed! We have an exciting week – exhibiting our theme work in the museum on Monday, serving and providing the catering for our museum cafe as well as dancing the 1940’s ballroom jive whilst the museum is open is just the beginning of a hectic week. We have our Christmas lunch on Wednesday and our KS2 Christmas party on Thursday, followed by the carol service on Friday. Class 5 will be part of the Carol Service organisation as usual.

Splitting eggs  - rising to the challenge!

Baking melting moments for the museum cafe.

Chocolate torte chefs!

Chocolate torte, strawberry pavlova and melting moments - enjoy on Monday everyone!
All donations will go to Help for Heroes.

Homework  15/12/14

English

Homework this week and over the holiday is to write a review in your opinion of how the All Saints whole school museum was received. Can you explain why the work was completed linked to the theme?

I am still expecting a book review each week on the blog when you have finished a Bug Club book. L6 books may take a fortnight to complete.
Maths
Your homework over the holidays is to explain and learn the equivalence chart for percentages, fractions and decimals to an adult at home and learn it off by heart. This knowledge and understanding will have a significant impact on your mental maths ability, speed and calculations in maths next term.

I would like to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  1. I feel that the Fordham All Saints Museum day went great! The people we served always came back saying "That was lovely, thank you." Everyone was very pleased with the wonderful Celtic Houses. I would like to say well done to all of the Year sixes for their wonderful dancing, my mum said that we did really well and would to see it again sometime. The parents all were amazed at the dance.
All the work linked with the theme. The year 6s work was all linked, Celtic Houses were linked to the theme because the Celts were part of the theme. the year 5s had a display about the Blitz. All the other clases had pieces of work were linked to the topic.

  2. Fordham All Saints Museum

On Monday 15th December, Fordham All Saints school welcomed adults to our meseum to see our talented work about our topic, (conflict). The year 6's aranged a cafe for the perents, and spent the afternoon baking cakes and biscuits for our visitors. The money we raised would go to Help For Heroes. We also learnt a dance, called jive for perents to entertain themselves on. When the meseum ended we counted the money we raised, and in total we raised...£90.83. I enjoyed the museum and so did the perents, it was truly a day to remember.

  4. The torte was amazing and everyone's work was fabulous. Well done! All the parents I spoke to said our ballroom jive was outstanding. Lots of parents would have liked to have the curators for our class by the display. people thought it might have been nice if there was more work on show and if it was in the classes for more space. personally I thought it was terrific!

  5. I read inside the game. It was mostly descriptive and very imaginative. I would rate this 4 stars as it was a very good book but there was more description needed in some parts. I would still recommend it to some one else.

  8. I'm reading 'The Dogs of the Hinterland' book, which in my opinion is very mysterious and you never know what is going to happen next! It is a very exciting book and I am enjoying it very much. I would rate this book four and a half stars, because although it is full of detail, there are some parts when I feel that it gets a bit boring!

  9. Fordham All Saints Museum

On Monday 15th December, Fordham All Saints Primary School held a special museum in the hall. The museum displayed our work linked to our theme; conflict throughout the ages. Parents loved the set - up and especially, being able to see everything from Stonehenge models to Spitfire Plane artwork. Also, during P.E, we have been rehearsing a ballroom jive from the 1940's (a dance people from World War 2 would have been familiar with), which we performed at the museum. Four groups took it in turns to entertain the parents on the dance floor; Groups A, B, C and D. Group D presented the jive faster than normal, which tired most of them out! My partner Elizabeth and I were part of Group D, but we didn't stop to take a rest - we ended up dancing the whole time through! The cafe was a big hit too; everyone commented that the chocolate torte, pavlova and melting moment biscuits were divine, and we all enjoyed making them too! Instead of charging a certain amount, people buying had to donate to 'Help for Heroes', a charity for injured soldiers that links to our World War theme. In total we raised a stunning £90!!! Everyone did an amazing job at the museum and made it extremely enjoyable, I would definitely want to do this again in the future! Well done to all that took part - it was a fantastic afternoon!

  12. I read ' Wallace and Gromit' and i liked it because it explained how to make a film and how long it takes. I thought that this was interesting because apparently it can take up to one year to make one character, I found this really awesome! I enjoy these types of books and i would read one again.

  14. On Monday the 15th December, Fordham All Saints primary school hosted a museum. So all the adult could see their children's fabulous work! Year sixes decided to show the visitors their ballroom routine that they had been learning in P.E. The jive was a great success and went down a treat with the visitors! As well as everything else year six also made Melting Moments, Chocolate Torte and a delicious Pavlova.
Overall it was a great afternoon for everyone!

  16. At the moment I am reading The Sign of a Warrior. I am enjoying this book because it has a fast moving and action packed plot, one which is complemented perfectly by the many wonderful similies used! I rate this book four and a half out of five as I think the author has primarily used only similies to describe.

  17. Fordham All Saints Museum

I think that our museum was a big success;it was a great way of show all our work over this half term! Our delectable pavlova, chocolate torte and melting moments went down a storm and the fact that we were donating to Help for Heros makes it even better (it also went very nicely with our topic)! If we ever did a museum again I think we should stick to a rotor as it was more a case of, "If your not doing anything come and dance!", although all the parents seemed to enjoy our dancing all the same and the Jive did go hand in hand with our studies of World War One and Two!

  18. I read the book find a way out! Personally i loved the book because the first part of the book was to find out who stole the test papers i also enjoyed the book because it was in the same form as a script. The second part of the book was about a couple of children were lost, and couldn't find their teacher but one person heard the teacher but none of the others could!
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

  20. I read 'Find a Way Out'. It was top class! The book was written as a play and is two stories but its still a good read. I only wish it could be longer then it would amazing! I gave it 4 out of 5. It was exciting and I loved the cliff hanger at the end, it made me want to read more! I gave it 4 as I hoped it would be longer.
